This is the financial exchange with the Barry Armstrong and chunks of you're exclusive look at business and financial news affecting your day your city your world. Stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every day. And now the financial exchange with the very Armstrong and chuck Exxon. Eight war of words as he erupted between United States and they're close ally Canada. We'll talk about that story in order to jump into the topic of what are you gonna do if you inherit in individual retirement account or diary. From your mom or dad had a handle that count. And then finally I'll tell you what if you're union worker in your receiving a benefit from the pension. You might need to be concerned hi everybody it's Varian truck with you here on a Monday morning and I was watching with some. And you know. News. Is is entertaining to watch that the war of words erupting between president from it and and Justin Trudeau. I don't know if that's the word I would use them a head I think it's somewhat disheartening in. You know it's is he in what way. Well on that it doesn't seem like there's any progress being. Now acting theories I think theory act I think this is headline grabs. I think this is what we eat what we're referring to and I'm sure they I would assume everybody's aware. That. You know president trump throwing some. You pretty harsh words towards the prime minister of Canada saying that he stabbed in the back if so alert cut those entities that yes a back up. I I tried to figured out and what I when I hear stories like this would all do is I'll read the German newspapers in this case I read the Canadian newspapers see how they're responding yeah Canada. In Canada is basically saying. You know. The view we're sorry you feel that way or stone and who invoke it starts yeah and and they are they have no choice but to not draw the hard like. Would it I found very interesting track is. When they give in to these trade disputes with the United States. They are very target in the tariffs that they invoke on American products going into Canada or in China or in to Germany have you noticed that we have it the they try to target areas that typically are going to have the biggest political impact to put pressure on the US to reverse course. Virtually all of the tariffs that candidate invoked. Vast majority of them are targeted towards Ohio to permit sir yes but already after Vermont there now now the I don't know what Vermont ever did anyone. Well they're nice people one thing that nobody talks about and and I looked up this morning and this is the data I could find its most recent and the United States imports three point one million barrels per day of oil. It's 15% of our import from Canada from Canada. It's it's it's a big chunk it's it's more than we import from Saudi Arabia it's more than we import from Mexico. It is do it again you look at how much we import from Canada. And it's it's a large amount and it's two countries that historically have had a very close relation. On trait have you noticed though that that hasn't come up nobody citing that that statistic. I mean Canada doesn't wanna lose the United States as a customer fishery with the US can't lose that import. But the united that prisoners say the United States that's a security so they did their part you lose that you lose the ability to import that oil and you have gas shortages within four week actually at six forecast right EU US it not only get six or gas or ten dollar gas you can't get it you have shortages within four weeks so my point news. I I think it's just noise I'm I'm ignoring it day in and the stock market is seems to be. Having the same page is if there was really trade war about to escalate between Canada and the United States it was gonna get out of control when the market be down its noise until isn't. And I know that that sounds. Condescending and it is somewhat condescending so I get that but. Back in I'll give you example back in 2008. No one said that the world was going to be falling apart but and by the fall 2008 the world was falling apart. If only it doesn't matter until at Dulles and there will come a point at some point in the future when all of a sudden. Something clicks and a certain way and all of a sudden he does Manhattan and that's the thing that you have to be aware of his. The markets are resilient and shrugging things off if you look at their ability to shrug things off. Markets are really good ignoring things until they become crises and then UC short term sell off any of rapid period of time. You go back to 2015. When China decided to depreciate the you want. Market said okay we're gonna let this go at the scope and then all of us and it was 10% dip in two weeks. You go back to 2008 wind you had the financial crisis and you have markets kinda ceased selling seesawing and then all of a sudden 4000 points in a couple weeks. That's how markets behaved because everyone is your word about this here your I can tell you're legitimately concerned about these trade wars. I am simply because you have an economy that has every other you have so many good things potentially going on right. And all wildly president jeopardize that. I'd I don't know if that's that the death I keep coming back to. It it's not in his best interest would have that collapse idea except here's the thing is that the currency that's most important to the president then. Is the ability to play politically. And be able to do what he needs to do with his base and so there's a difference there in what's potentially best for him and for the Republican Party and what's best for the country now and he think he cares about the Republican Party and I think nobody cares about his in his much is it allows you to get votes. Now again I'd I. This is a caffeinated at a I don't think he's. As much or make no mistake there's no difference between a Republican Party and in trumpet delegates it's one in the same now but it's that again he has made promises. To go into exactly like. I'll I'll give a lot of credit he's not lying about knowing he came out rated the beginning and said look this is what we're going to do what he's doing it but he knows that there's going to be counterpunch. He does you know it's is it it's like China's doing the same things are invoking what I I just wonder what's the end we're where we go with us. I think would it is it's it's a little bit of trade war right it is skirmishes and then he'll declare victory. That's what I expect. So it's a whole bunch theater a lot of theater. It does position him well first conversations with that came in Singapore right those are going on tonight. In what way. He did he doesn't want to be perceived as being weak going and talking that the so death death. That's that that's a that's my perception of and may I I hope I'm not wrong and he I but I don't think there's a lot. To be said for this alleged trade war and in the Dow wouldn't be up sixteen points if we are really going into trade war. Let's talk about I Aries. You and I both know trucked in working with customers and with the listeners that. People tend to spend. Their higher rate money lost my observation has been. People one of the first things that people last of these bills say. How much do I have to take him out of my diary when it turns seven because it it's almost like they don't want to take money out of there. Bookkeeping condition for the last 45 years as you've been saving them money owed don't touch this that's your retirement account all the sudden you sit there you say. Gina wood 87 and a half the government's telling me I have to start taking money out I'm gonna take at just the minimum I don't wanna pull out any more than that. All my life expectancy it's you know generally speaking probably anywhere from ten to fifteen year electric and apple corps now. You hit it pretty good chance. That. I'm gonna die with money in my individual retirement. Yeah and and so what happens is it's easy if you or the first spouse to go. Because what happens in that case let's say that. You pass and he says okay what happens in my IRA if my spouse is still alive and they simply take the money from your diary they can roll right into their own IRA or they didn't have when they can open one up in their own name but it would increase the amount that they're required to take out everybody does affect personal. Let's say. I died and I leave 200000 dollars and all the sudden that 200000 goes into my wife's diary she now has to take it out. Based on that increase of 200000 dollar plus she's getting old. Correct exactly so you do have some increased. If you are inheriting an IRA as a son or a daughter. A little bit different in that you can't just roll into your own diary and I okay. But a lot of people don't know the option some people say well he'd pull this money out right away and then they get it with a big tax bill well a tea ice what when one of my he. What when my son's coaches years ago. His mom died tragically. And he inherited 55000. Dollars from her higher individual retirement again. He cashed it out all the same time twenty grand taxes and in many. You know he asked me what to do with it. After he cashed out and now of course there's not much you know you're you're you really hurt yourself and he got slammed tax. The better option for a lot of folks in order to prolong the the tactic Airgas delay the taxpayer and not penalty but the tax pain. And also give that money more time to grow tax deferred. Is set of what's called an inherited. And in this what you do what's called an diary BBA beneficiary designated account. And pretty much what it allows you do you still pull little bit of money out each year than you do ever required distribution even if you're under age seventy and a half if you wore a son or daughter. Inheriting an IRA and you were underage seven and a half. You still have to take a little bit out each year so let's just go through an example you inherited an individual retirement account. Premiered dad when your 55 years old and in your make and lots of money you've got a good job here your peak or you make it a hundred grand a year you're saying OK things are good. You've been in that situation you might still have to pull out a little bit of money not what you do have to pull out a little bit of money. But it's a slower burn rate than if he simply grabbed everything out all. Germans are so it 55 you'd have to do life expectancy calculation and determined at 55 C that's what catches a lot of people by surprise I've in this. People ask me say that doesn't make sense I thought I had to be 59 and a half. Not when it's an air diary that you would hear from right there if you're inheriting you could be EU could be five years old. An inherent in diary from your moment batter your grandparents. And at age five you will be required to take money out of that retirement will be very much know who. It won't be a ton necessarily but it's something that you do have to be aware of is that you do have a minimum distribution you have to pull out. Even if were regardless of what EG war few Laurie son or daughter or Greinke inheriting an irony. If questions on that you can text to set 63566. Our poll question today is. Are you counting on inheriting money from your parents or your grandparents. Heidi participate in the polls very simple you simply go to financial exchange showed dot com are you counting on inheriting money from your parents or your graph first. Reason I bring that up as a burst. Large amount of people think that they're going to one in three Americans are counting on. He's nick not only days they think they're gonna get their counting on it in order to maintain their lifestyle. Interesting given the fact that only about half of Americans are invested in any way shape performing also pretty much they're saying. That it's. Two thirds of the people that have investments and aren't going to blow through them by the end of their life which. That's true when you look at the college generation right now is people that have a college education yeah. 60%. Of college educated people think they're going to inherit money from the parents or their current pair you think college educated people we smarter than meanwhile all the people in the retirement communities are driving around in their golf carts with a bumper sticker on them that says. Spending my grandchildren and her yeah that's what they're coming up. He coming up will be talking about union workers and well there's about a hundred pension plans multi employer pension plans that are in trouble will be talking about those when we return to the financial exchange. We'll look Cunningham should do business and financial. It's the financial exchange with Barry Armstrong and chuck son on the financial exchange radio network. And we're here to talk about a brand new product available for landlords it's called Z deposit dot net Jake. What. Barry we created a security deposit product. To really help the problem a lot of play in order facing with security deposits which is. You know one it's time consuming to open the small internal security pop number sons. And yet to go into the branch gets signed paperwork and their small dollars and indeed turn. And it's likely to complaints in Massachusetts really tough for landlords and security deposit accounts. You have to give them ten in certain forms when they open up the count and you have to pay interest a new and we should do all this canal through Z deposit all of that you can do Thursday deposit it literally takes about forty seconds opened up an account. We handled the automatic forms that are generated in the count number department's mission statement all that said lieutenant. And the interest descend to the tenant automatically every year. This sounds like something it's going to be very valuable to large landlords it might have 200 tenants and small landlords and might only have five tenths yeah absolutely with a large landlords. It's just a lot of hassle to manage it so we make dad very efficient. For the small landlords a lot of them are afraid of nineteen complaints done correctly so some of them some of them don't even like taking security deposits were hopeful that this will help them do that. Folks if he'd like to learn more about C deposit go to their website Z deposit dot net. Or you can call and speak to somebody on disease deposit team it's 7816418691. Or online at Z deposit dot net it helps. Landlords manage their tendon deposits to great concept you might wanna learn more about 7816418691. We have part of the financial exchange in an instant. By texting us and 63566. Start your extra keyword Barry and become a member of our brand new textbooks tell us what you think 24 sevenths right here on the financial exchange radio network. All right so. Leave her talking about higher grades don't get to the teamster story moment that. Terry had a text question. Yeah question out of the 508. Texting and 63566. Question is idle large 41 K inherited from my father and what was the age you mentioned that I can take it out without getting killed in taxes well. 55 years old are you you're 55 years old and you inherit. 41 K from your dad. At age 55 your life expectancy. Is 25 point four yours about so. Let's see the dollar amount what is. A 100000 dollars that you inherited from here or million dollars is set it was a large county inherits a million dollars. From his dad at age 55 in means he has to take. That million dollars divided by 25 point four and that's how much he has to take out that your and then the next year will be 24 point 63 and then a year after B 23 point 83. So the amount you're going to be required to take out. Every year is going to decline most custodians to like if you put that money with. Fidelity or vanguard as an inherited diary they're going to prompt you to take out that money. They'll they'll tell you you need to pull X number of dollars this year in order to be complied need to pull wine number of dollars now you can pull more than that if you're in a situation where. Maybe your low tax bracket and not being taxed too much to begin with. But in a case where you're in a high tax bracket you might not be able to do anything to avoid you're going to have to pull that money out at a certain rate based on what the government tells. Now Tucker I don't know where 50 wade is in terms of the process but it. One of the things that you can do as the recipient. Ray you're the beneficiary of that diary. You could say to. The state while I don't want it in and have a go to my kids instead. And the the benefit to doing that is at 55 let's say you're already Richard in Ural great and you don't really need your dad's 41 K balance. You condensate have a go to my children and they'll have to take money out of their individual retirement account for a visit 55. You probably don't wanna leave a million bucks and eons in the hands of your millennial child. I just. And asked me if the millennial you never want to leave them any money the only the only worse than a molecular weight generations the mine and so you know spend it on snapshot filters. At any rate I just I didn't I answer that question thanks opera again our text number 63566. I'm getting more and more questions and getting questions about these multi employer plans and the problem chuck is. Retirees are now getting letters. From their unions sane and acknowledging that these plans are running out of money. What's nice of the other plans to finally let them know that oh by the way we we didn't put India contributions that we needed to well if it's been. This I started you're reading about this about five years ago and I think everybody's kind of hoping that somebody will bail amount. Well it in the problem with a lot of these plants is they're not active anymore in so you don't have any new contributions going into potentially keep them afloat they can't acres union Britain. They can't say oh we're just gonna raise the contribution Leo and race how much in the employees need to contribute. Lot of these are poised no one's working these plans anymore the they've shuttered the plans and saying OK we've got these liabilities out there. But they have no way to actually add money into them and some of them are grossly underfunded and there's a hundred of them there's 14100 plants like this across the country. But a hundred of them are in deep kimchi the there are an awful lot that if you see another sustained downturn in the stock market and the economy. You left plans aren't able to pay their liabilities and and the problem that comes in news. You know you're seven year old retiree you're 63 year old retiree in your collecting on that pensions and you're counting on your Sam lobbed it in three grand a month. That may be the did the primary source of income besides Social Security flaw in in the problems that the funds that had been set up to guarantee you these. You do you don't have enough resources to guarantee he'll see feel bad for the workers because. They had the money come out of their pay Jack. And go into the plan. The problem is twenty years ago thirty years ago the union didn't make the deposits in an appropriate fashion because the union Hussein. Don't worry about it because you know we've got a 100000 Teamsters today but we're gonna have 200000 Teamsters twenty years from. Yeah and they are to us just it's it it's a real problem in a you'd you feel badly latest results Asia's. The what's gonna be more sympathetic than. You know some eighty year old. Former truck driver saying that my pension slashed by 60% I mean it would Petrino the pencil dislodged. You think so you don't think they'll be bailed out to about loose on Rhode Island. Now you'd point you know what he we haven't seen it with. Thousands and thousands of workers in eight and I will eat you do you don't think hey where's the money gonna come from. The Fed. Fed print money. And I I am skeptical you don't think your because it will be I don't know if it's inside your generation you don't think they'll worry because this this problem. Will probably. Really start it's gonna be gradual wearing that you're in you've already got some UPS guys that are getting pension reductions I think the problem with the Fed stepping in on this is than anyone who's got a four when cases while we help me. Now you know the Yelp the pension funds they own why they're gonna have to help the private one because the public pensions are just as grossly underfunded and they're gonna bail them out there there there deep did the public pensions or worse. But one thing you can't Blake we've seen a lot of them you can't bail out though and. They coming up Rick take a look at what the markets are doing and then. A new movie is taken the number one slot at the box office we'll talk about that and more coming up. And financial extra. Like just on FaceBook and follow us on Twitter. Most of the they think there's a whole bunch of fraud going on really their problem is and and it is going out of business anyways. I think they're making it more difficult to use the service because their right net cash to with the stock whose. In toilet last time by the way a little bit of breaking news on the merger front Boston scientific. And her. Apparently has had an offer made on them by striker corporal who. That's and so big one in the medical device field going that would be huge there's a lot of Boston Scientific money. Plane around and doing and that's what's the price so they halted trading on Boston Scientific it was up eight point 7%. But they have halted trading on this apparent takeover bid by Stryker corporation holy cow yep Boston Scientific trading at 3493. And strikers off about three and a quarter as well also looks like there might be some truth to this one what's the range on this during the last 52 weeks BS sexist treated as 24 bucks a share. And this this a big deal for strikers are strikers about a sixty billion dollar company. Boston sank to 648 so this is late you're you're coming out of this was like a 110 billion dollar B humans worthy of the key in the medical it has to be debt financing. It's tough. I'm guessing it's some debt and also I wouldn't be surprised if this is a a stock swap deal a different here's a good company. And me it it's it's a marriage mean haven't you think he'd be allowed to merge. Is there in the same business circles and device yeah is strikers like hips is very there's more hips and knees I don't know where Boston Scientific six revenue the primary source comes from these days but I mean you'd be talking about just an absolutely massive company coming out. You can protect assets from future divorces of your children and and not even just divorces. Any creditor can think of a financial problem just a wanna help people limited to just divorce although I can tell you divorces is one of them. Bigger concern for the common people half again more common and so yes I mean the way you do it is what the language or put in the trust as you simply allow. The children to service trustee. So they're doing everything like it's their own. Their own asset buying selling etc. but if they appoint an independent trustee. Who decides when distributions can come out to the child okay Betty and their siblings know they should be an accountant or an attorney and they can remove and replace all of it really the boss they don't get stuck with a you know some crazy attorney gets in there that that doesn't wanna give up assets. After a celebrity deaths suicide hotlines jumped 25% and then. Last week I read suicides are on the rise of new 125%. Since 1999. And yeah a law immediately with school. I think it's a combination of whole bunch of different drugs others some new documentary George not. Related sewer like if you if you're overdose and that's not dancers who I understand that he is it maybe. Depression and they quit why I would say I think we have a whole bunch of things that factor. I think number one the economic climate the last twenty years has been garbage so I think there's a lot of despondent people out there begin. To know your humor is good point is a lot of the year is re seed higher rates of suicide West Virginia Kentucky it's it's places like that out west to that guy I liked my aunt had a whole lake. You look at the places that are most impacted I think there's a lot that has to do with people feel economically hopeless and I think there's a lot of for children that are related to that but for new teams and so forth. I think it is all about Smartphones and now and social media has every study that we showed up at look at. Shows they increase the rates of depression and anxiety among those people. Using a patently. I use my Smartphone war that'll point depressed. And I wonder if you're one of the few people who doesn't. It's in what it is we need this Smartphone or is it the use of social I think it'll difference I think it's boat. I think it's mostly social media tells me he's one of the biggest but I've I think it evokes. Well of course Smart foreign differ from it a desktop in terms of I guess. Depression or so you know if it's just the fact that you can sit in front of eight hours a day wears you can't sit in front of your computer for eight hours if your kid here in school wears you can just carrier phone with you all the time when your late. But there are on social media's I guess at my ultimate point whatever it is they're doing yeah. It's it is absolutely related to how much the using technology my kids will not have. Any Smart death tablets until they're like fifteen or sixteen but also the the thing that companies are doing is an apple going to restrict how much time he spent don't know if they're going to warn you that you've been spending too much time they're not to mention here or are there any parental controls. And I mean that's one of the things that are gonna come out with I believe. On the if you were raising kids today knowing what you know I wouldn't let my kids of phones to sixty OK if sixteen how much time will we do then at sixteen saintly and spent ten minutes today on FaceBook or winners now Acer. Not on our. Yeah our. Yes. You don't it's like hey this technology executives to elect their kids on social and all the things were realizing is that all of our parents who told us don't use your computer too often were right. What about outside I know the two teenage suicide rate is RC op but what about you know I ought received a celebrity's anti boarding or 61 to its Davis 55. Chris Cornell you know he regards supportive and very successful and I think those are different we keep in mind. Among artists you always see a higher suicide rate to begin with just does if you war created you tend to and up. With you you never thought Robin wine and you just see this people who are intensely creative usually have some kind of mental illness because that illness in a lot of cases derives their creativity. There's a lot every week had a president of four main buckets. If an immediate annuity where you give insurance company mine they guarantee pension yet fixed annuity which is just a predetermined rate for a predetermined time. It index annuity and variable annuity and those two become a little bit more complicated. When we talk about the different kinds of annuities which ones might be more appropriate for someone who wants to take on a little bit of risk in order to get some additional growth. Well variable annuity typically is one where you take on more risk York basically investing in different types in the market. With some guarantees attached to them whereas an indexed annuity you have no potential for a loss. But you have limited upside potential as well in a fixed annuity is probably most similar to what we see with they CDS certificate of deposits except it's not FDIC insured and absolutely correct usually the terms are a little bit longer than a traditional CD use it won't see for instance a six month fixed annuity but your general. So many questions regarding Social Security we get them all the time where people are saying well. If I retire at 62 but I still want to work part time how much money in my allowed to make him. And I really better off waiting until seven B is supposed to collecting at 66 were talked about Social Security today. Rose gonna talk about sprint but not sure how they're doing this but they're offering unlimited. Data and texting for fifteen dollars a month pattern of Utah but I'm penal more than fifteen bucks a month old servers what we're already paying for your phone. You know not one now I don't doubt that bill I'm on down around 45 now. Aria yeah and that's for you and the white for just you just me. Woody Sheehan for she's pain and a 200 dollar problems. Yet they are probably if he's made substantial not operable. We'll talk about that and then of course will go to our poll question witches. You know inheriting diary accounts that but sort of a Social Security how much money can make. In retirement without having a negative in. Act on your Social Security cuts yes the way it works if you claim Social Security benefits prior to your full retirement bridges between age 66 and 67 depending on your year borrowed ten. If you claim Social Security benefits before then you're somewhat restricted in terms of what you can earn in what I mean by that. If you earned more than 171040. Dollars this year and you're claiming early you know. For every two dollars that you go over Manhattan you're going to have your benefit reduced. By one dollar. So if you have a part time job where your work and twenty hours a week at Home Depot Delray. Permanent and me know if you make fifteen grand a year you do part time work couple days a week you're okay. Your fine redo a little bit of seasonal work I know a lot of guys that'll. They'll spend the winter in Florida and then they'll come up and work for seasonal company in the north that you know and and build the view they'll make a few bucks but there. But I jeopardizing their benefits but let's say that instead of making 171000 you you making eighteen for every two dollars a go over and they're gonna reduce your benefit by one so if you go over by a thousand dollars they're gonna pull back 500 dollars in benefits for them now okay there's also higher threshold where if you go over 4500360. They're gonna reduce your benefit. By three dollars. Up by one dollar for every three dollars that you were over that will chances are you're gonna go back let's say you retire at 62. And he think on just gonna work part time but then all of a sudden a really good job offer comes up in you can make 60000 bucks a year right. Prone to suspend your benediction you should. Now that's it's it's rare to see someone who is paying on that Hiram outlet you know it's you don't you don't see very. I've seen it go where people have retired at 62 or 88 is testament to the in voluntarily retire at sixty to ninety. They're broke they can't find work. And they retire at 62 in the collective Social Security benefits but then two years goes by. It also and all I can get work. And and and they have gone back in nineteen. A lot of Americans don't know that you can go back to Social Security and say haste stop sending me the check because I've gained. Employment and and I'm in pretty good shape now right. Sunday should really think about that folks if you if let's say you wore work and for Home Depot or your work and for nursing home bird whatever. If all of a sudden your boss comes in says he will pay seventy grand a year to work full time take the job take it take. Nothing wrong with a million and suspend your Bennett has by suspending it would happen is. When you start collecting at 68 or seven year whenever it is you'll get a whopping increase in your check. And that's the nice right to more years of service. At a higher wage you really have a pronounced impact on your monthly benefit yet. So I don't know how sprint does doings you know there's four telecoms that I think sprint. T-Mobile which are emerging. Right now they want you to Dockery right you know that's not a given. And that that's the that's with the current agreement though will army times that they tried to emerge in the war. For a power and and it's been struck down 04. And you know so like I don't know if that'll occur but sprint is just taken of you know page at T-Mobile playbook saying hey fifteen dollars a month unlimited. Unlimited talk text and data. I mean that I don't care who I tell you what I'm home actively looking into this literally as we speak right now the problem is they don't tell you how long the deals could. Yet it could change it like within a year or two but he says that not let it could change and among the tea yeah exactly like Dick you too pro chuck here he might return trip could be be followed for the debates here. But even if so let's say that I switch you know NIC thirty bucks a month over the next three months in the say by the way deals out. It does go back to those doom before party feels about being on an inferior network does that body you know. Oh let me tell you the dates of my last phone calls okay. Just is this this is how often actually call someone on my cell phone it keep mine is the only phone that I have. 531. 519. 51459. Y 53 way too when I don't call people what about your parents. What about when you call them all those of those calls a call about what you regard your mother since 531. Yet been shame on you been about a week maybe we. And a half came on yeah it it's 20. Yeah it's too long. A little child I don't have that much that only child and a shot actually a lot more burden on you if you're an only child and what do I have that happens in my life like what do I need to talk about. Just. And I think it's a heck of a deal tonight to your point. A lot of times and on making calls on my phone and I do make more calls and talks substantially more calls but I'm using Internet. Right right I'm making calls and Wi-Fi you know and that's that. So you're the that's why the network that Iran becomes less important. Then where you're making your calls from because if I'm making my calls from the office and a good wife by the office on making my calls from home. People don't realize you're using EU turn that on your phone. The other Wi-Fi calling now. But yeah I'm looking into it just is I mean you got to read the fine print number curiously what some of the the deals are there out. They don't allow a new leasing our leasing for new phones for example I got a phone already. You're better off buying your own phone and you are right are buying through the company marine market up in the finance charges and Fisher phone tool chuck that's the other thing you got to consider. Cleavage and ideology that I knew what. He he can buy an elaborate right for you Hewitt after four over everything that one payment whereas Bernard. The thing right now the trend now is paying monthly 27 bucks a month that's a real screw job. If you like paying the full Smartphones. Your your better Rauf Tucker buying your phone and paying cash and looked at it. A million way to Sunday. If you can afford to pay cash for your phone into separate of your contract. Because then you're also not indentured. The reason trucks got flexibility now he owns his Bono married he he's a free agent. And I and my doubts over the sprinting actually. So we use I I might switches are coming and I say. I'm gonna save campaign 45 moderate on some and save thirty bucks amount of 360. Bucks have a horse and nearly 10% that if everybody that does this send me 10% of them it's not girls retire well. I'd be enough. And that's 5%. He won three dollars a month 55%. For you know it's gonna get any change and they again want to return quarter and senators like that it's heavy and then 10%. They've been aimed at Baghdad's a lot of money I need I might switch that I glee is also deepening posted as those sprint. Yeah I I might if we don't need a special colder and news no I went right onto their website and it was just the BO online only deal of Sidney of click here and do this and in the Sununu sim card and stuff like that but it's. I'm angry US announced AT&T. It. This Kristol you get you gonna save me a little bit what actually that you know what that's I'm I do on my call AT&T and say look I'm considered it was revealed that. Well then they're gonna lose me. Best way to inherit and diary with talk about diaries in general. You know when you die when I'd and I plan to die before my wife. I die I'll die and my diary will become citizens. And then she just. You know ends up with a much larger individual retirement. Right what happens when she. So when she dies what happens is then your kids are gonna have to open up what are called inherited dire news as long as they. If they want to not trigger a big tax burden right away by taking out all the money from their inherited hire it don't do that oh my gosh people do that that's a regrettable mistake in its. So what happens you open up these inherited IR raised. And we don't do that with fidelity are being gardener any of the big custodians you can do with and what will happen then. Is the government say OK you are twenty years old based on your life expectancy we need do you start pulling out two and a half percent per year an increase that going forward if you're 38 years old yet put a little bit more 55 people at a bigger chill. But no matter how old do you war you have in inherited a higher. And by that I mean what's called. Again not a spouse inheriting it but if you wore a son daughter granddaughter niece nephew anyone other than a spouse. You're going to be required open this quote inherited IRA. Yeah Vermont is moving to wide import import their only individual mandate for health insurance. And this is going to while begin to take effect in 20/20 so about eighteen months from now New Jersey did this to New Jersey did this as well and Massachusetts obviously has had an individual mandate for. We'll probably fifteen years now coax them right. Big debate is the you know now that you don't have day. Federal mandate dude how many of the states and the movement towards one nick is the you know and ends up happening is states get screwed when people don't have health insurance you've heard it if you ever talked to a hospital administrator. Remember when Romney care just came in. And I was talking to the CFO. Of a New Hampshire hospital now and he was Indians because they're on collectibles. Were in excess of 10% yup and his peers in Massachusetts there on collectibles were less than 2%. Yes a from if you're a C a poll hospital makes a big dip. It it it doesn't and I would imagine. You know acting as the every state moving to this because I think there's different things that fit for different states potentially in in obviously it's gonna depend on the politics of the statesman but I would imagine that most states that tend to lean Democrat are probably going to be putting something similar to this. In place with some you know wrinkles depending on what the specific state use wages and or increase your premiums on it certainly does it eat it absolutely does that's all we saw with Ronald look at and you you're paying for that 10% on collectibles. Yeah yeah that's that's what you want your covering people who didn't have insurance and and a lot of people end up in a lot of people in Vermont. I don't know what the number will be 250000. But a lot of people in Vermont will get free health care. Vermont's gonna be fascinating to watch just 'cause it's such a small state it is with it was a half a million people 600000. Denotes the second smallest state by population in the the country you want when that's behind of these either Idaho line home. And so it's a relatively small pool anyways so. If you have you know three to five people with you know huge bills that get run up on one play and you could potentially have the whole thing. You know get skewed just because it's it's really fascinating just because it's such small pool apple. It's no US banks failed during the first five months of two when he 18 January through May. That's the first time that has occurred since 2006. There were no bank failures in 2006. The last calendar year. When that happened. Since 207 track. 531. Banks have failed an average of forty per year over the last eleven years the bulk of those failures occurring I'm gonna say. 8910. And allowed. Yeah and it is about that when I see this my first thought is here we go again another top you keep getting all these top besides I just it it just makes me feel what went everywhere to go the bank zealot I'm not either but when everything's going right that's when I tend to get most nervous Susan because like that's when the markets have the furthest ball went. When things don't look good yell. Pretty deep it went when people are nervous and panic button and that's usually OK like you know what's out there you're dealing with the risk and so forth. When things look great now. Again I get nervous I know but I know that's that's me but that's a meat problem but you know what those truck is you had many years with the economy was just sluggish. Anything about how many sub 2% GDP years did hidden right locked up. And you know there was a mindset just. No I folks is chuck and Mike from the financial exchange we're talking this month about annuities and specifically. To our strong advisory group got the truth about annuities Mike let's talk first about some of the benefits of annuities when it comes to tax deferral that's probably one of the main advantages that you get through the use of it and it would. Correct I mean if you think about it traditional investment let's say you go out in your bias CD that's paying you 3% interest. You're paying taxes on that interest on your 1040 every single year. With an annuity you might be able to get that same 3% rate of return. But all the taxes are deferred and he decide to take that money out that can't be an advantage for somebody in high tax bracket today. Other benefits that are on there you have the ability at these writers either income benefits or death benefits on annuities are and that's where things get a lot more complicated and it's buried much dependent on each individual situation. Yet there are writers on there that can guarantee you that you get a certain amount of income for the rest of your life. But depending on your own current income situation that may mean up valuable there are things like death benefits and market protection. All sorts of these different things to be written into these contracts but they do come at a cost. The downside due Newt he's the two biggest reasons that people have issues with the sometimes. They do lock your money up for long periods of time with surrender charges some of the newer products are able to reduce or in some cases eliminate those. And also you do have to worry a little bit about taxation on the back in tax ordinary income rates as opposed to at capital gains rates folks all of this information and more. All right so Tucker got some inside information supposedly over the weekend as a relates to whole foods would dealer yes it'll according to out what are my sources. Amazon and whole foods are ready to roll out with grocery delivery. Very soon possibly as soon as this week. Rustling and in new wing went as far as I now. So the Celtics are right now there are available in cities yacht you know so it's available in Boston. But now they're looking to expand outwards to the suburbs I'm looking at a map in the something on Yahoo! finance and just stumbled mountain. It's already available in Texas for instance where you you've got the best cities in northern California. You have fluent. It and I'll tell you even just with Amazon in general the late I'll give an example over the weekend I noticed that my pool there was some you know. The build up and some the chemical levels weren't quite right. Go on Amazon and I figured OK you know get something union dumps and stuff and on Monday or Tuesday the same day delivery on the pool chemicals and no kidding. At us that the best that they were at the grocery delivery that I heard is that it's going to be same day. In as soon as two hours. Against the they are just getting it in that something the previous I would of had to go out you know the the New Year's pool shop to me is you know 1015 minute drive by justice done and few hours later was there but I I did some research chart and there Tucker Tucker Andrea. The ebitda and with me doesn't matter what it does. It looked like it's come into the northeast. Based elements. Aren't wired differently just the south. In the northwest it looks like right on June 13 as of today. And not available in New England is the I'll tell you what if you're running first or business leaders Stop & Shop that are. Trader Joe's pretty popular their you know their last week market baskets bird popular. You'd better. Yeah you better have this service I I think it's going to be them at a truck you like to go in its please tomatoes and but while he's in the tomatoes if you puke and sit here with its 1130. Rate would be nice to be squeeze it to me. You're going to phone in order dinner aria yeah and absence or fissures and steak tips you know whatever you eat. And delivered in and dike up the next couple days without happened to the store break you know goal into the growth restore. To the age is not terribly. Not a very peeling process and the other thing with the whole foods by the way is it's going to be an additional 10% off. For prime members on its items that are are ready on sale through the whole foods I did see that yet and I think that's that's pretty. Across the board right now then it's going to be start to more. But it's a deliveries can be implemented more and more now that that's what they have to do. To really turn around whole foods their their story attendance was way up since it on what's good prices now. It's the that the prices have gotten better. And I think they've they've. Their foot traffic up 3% what's interesting is that they've dramatically streamline the products that they avenues of gondola like a lot of the local vendors the whole foods out there are getting killed exams and saying no we want centralized economy one size fits all so a lot of the ones that were doing these regional tests and things like that. They've been hurt actually by the acquisitions of even with its its higher sales you know but of a smaller number of vendors now. It is a consumer here. From a consumer standpoint we need it being cut its and he really like it's not there anymore like yeah you're disappointed Blake. I am I'll give you example I know I'm a Manning's. Mean I'm mayonnaise now how you manage snobs. Define yes there are certain kinds of man is what I liked Hastert agreed there's one that's actually carry whole food OK it's called sir Kensington. Shares of the box aids it's like five dollars again like you're crazy if that's my advice olive. But Maine is truly bad. A lot of care I thought it immediately I'd just don't like the load me up like as you're thirty. When we get to my age your arteries are clogged and you just clawed mail it's it's it's almost eighty ships but I'll give an example. If that that is one of the few reasons why I go to whole foods is to buy that because they don't have. Really anywhere else right now OK if they got rid of that I would never go to nag checked Amazon. Yes it's not on ams and I actually I haven't checked in the last couple months I wonder if they've added anything's O Richard have talk amongst ourselves we'll see if they have from the. It it'll be I'll be curious to see how the other grocers respond to lose me there are freaked out. Indeed becomes very easy to about how does and cigar compete with that. Not only that whole foods has the customers oh my god it happened on Amazon now of course that are well this is the best they bit the whole foods has the 70000 or your earn them. That's which is it would everybody sorry they want that upper affluent are and that's. Not check in the price tag on everything we've got to pack also. What's the price point. What's that what's the price point 129 after the two back. Parents who spend an extra blocker now but has delivered delivered. They get three packs to betting on new S&P 500 stocks like Twitter. Is a risky game in a last week it was announced that Twitter. Would be joining the S&P 500. And and a lot of people are gonna buy the stock is a make a ton of money yet you see a lot of people buy it because they say oh every every ETF for the S&P 500 has to pick that up downs can get index it's all that all of us institutional ownership gonna pour in. The fact is over time the stock cast perform on its own. You see occasionally little bumps like this but it's usually leading up because their firms. That study. The markets and determine which company's next to be added and in to be completely honest a lot of this mattered more. Back when there's less information available about stocks doesn't matter as much today I don't think just a I don't think a bit earlier in the S&P 500 and somebody buys the index then they're automatically buying stuff. They are putting him but again keep in mind that. It still is going to end up backing down to okay what is the company actually do overtime and I didn't make any money and in the the ability to arbitrage on something like being added to an index today it's dramatically lessened compared to what it used to everybody knows too. You know that's there's more information and it's just like the it's. The ability to arbitrage on publicly traded companies it's it's significantly diminish 2530 years ago. I still think they are and I'm sticking with for hikes this year but there's some chatter that the Fed may be potentially signaling that they're gonna wind down own. The the selling off of their bond balance sheet movement over the next couple years of the of the balance sheet for the Fed had gone up to around four point five trillion dollars. During the financial crisis they bought up mortgage backed securities treasuries anything they could get their hands on. The thought was that they've reduced that to about 2.5 trillion. But now the thought is they may end up sticking around 3.5 trillion or even a little bit more. Instead of going all the way down then. The thought being. That it in part this I think is due to the dollar's place as the world's reserve currency today. There's been some reports over the last three to six months. That in a lot of emerging market economies you have a dollar shortage right now and it's making it difficult to do business and is hurting some of these young countries and so I wonder what is Ecuador. He just about any you know Ecuador Peru Vietnam Tyler Ecuador doesn't have their own currency. What do they use dollars just dollars and that hits the only way to transact business and interesting. But you're you're seeing a lot of these countries that are Beano suggesting hey we kind of have a shortage of dollars and in this may be part of the reason that the Fed is being pushed into this situation. As well as I think it also gives them something that they can move kind of behind the scenes to see that even if they're raising interest rates and mitigate the effects. What does it do to mortgage rates if anything. Probably stabilize that keeps him from going to lie that's good. Yeah right page if your want to buy a house that's it's probably pretty good thing or you're coming out and of adjustable rate mortgage. That could be good news via the downside to this is if you do see another dip at some point in markets in the past use. They don't as much ammunition to deuce. Ran and it's a curious time. Doctors need patients to keep their appointments in La lift want to help make that happen bluebird left. Getting into the business now. Taxis to do this just as well suppose. But Cooper and lift the basically embedding themselves. In assisted living facilities and senior facilities. And being the car service that takes senior citizens to their doctor's appointment with you kind of wonder why taxi companies having gotten into this business before because it would seem to be pretty reliable form of you know business just because. You do see a lot of people Ian a senior living facilities. Needing transportation to and from the hospital would seem to be that a lot of the wouldn't go truck because of the cost. In in these retirement communities like the villages down in Florida yeah the subsidies. Would they have part networks of volunteers. That do the driving. And they'll take somebody for their doctor's appointments and it's it's their neighbors how do you think this makes it different though that who Vernal after getting into this is they're not that the league they're cheaper than. I think they're doing it now I think the facilities are doing it one based on cost it's cheaper to use lifting is about the 34% cheaper up to a lot of these facilities used to have their own drivers that have their own hands and they would drive the right. And and I think what they learned was. Well you know it's cheaper and more efficient and people like it better when they have their own car come and pick them up as opposed to. You know six of them get in a car and they have to wait two hours to get a ride back. Agreed yeah. It's it's taking off and it's all electron right so the it can all be done. Much more easily than what it's yeah. Would do the way that they've been managing this process in the past yep but he can make sense in seems to but it seems to be the the wave of the future. Price of crude oil they talk about this briefly crude was up 35 cents a barrel. The Dow's up 46 points there's a lot of concern. Over trade wars in tariffs and and we opened the show with a conversation about that. I I think a lot of the fears and a lot of what you're seeing in the media is hype. Because if there were real trade wars going on I think it now wouldn't be up 46 points and I think crude oil. You know it would be up more than 35 cents a barrel. If there was a threat candidate who's gonna stop importing or exporting oil to the United States that's kind of that that's that's one of those relationships between Canada in the United States. The United States has to have the oil from Canada. But conversely. Canada has to have the dollars from the United States. It's it really is a Simeon a relationship where both countries need each other in order to keep their economies moving and even some it's like. Penned it it hit the road and ended it they are Leo they are. Canada has to have those dollars but the United States. I mean imagine if it imagine guys go into the gas station they said were sold out. That's what would happen within four weeks if you saw the US stop importing oil from Canada 15% of our supply. Big chunk you know when we get a 1% and now to 2% and now if we if we all the sudden had a 2% in belts and priced today. Gas would be four bucks a gallon. Yeah at 15% in balanced out 56 and her. And and it could be sky's the limit Leo and me you could be looking at you know I jokingly said ten dollars a gallon. I'm matured a joke it glee when when you think about what a 50%. In balance in supply would do. That's why don't think he gets out hey hazy night only African afford to have no. Dow's up 45 points as we speak the nasdaq's up eighteen what a visit us on our FaceBook page we're on FaceBook were also. Several web site financial exchange showed dot com.
