Stay informed and up today about economic and market trends plus get breaking business news every day. And now the financial exchange with the Barry Armstrong and sharks done us. I mean at the pump we're talking about the price of oil and the price of gasoline. Everything seems to be going up we're talk about why oil and gasoline prices are on the rise. And then Amazon prime. They have a hundred. Million members talk about the impact of that not just on Amazon. But on the rest of the retail industry how everybody it's Berrian truck with you here. On a Thursday. You know check this price increase in oil kind of crept along at. You know he wasn't a big deal until two big deal now we're on the costs were 6903. For west Texas crude. You have the the way the in Europe their pain in what 7475. Bucks a barrel yet. Prices are going up it caught everybody including me by surprise. Well it's a gonna kind of crept up it wasn't something where there was this rapid run up it's kind of happened over a span of about six months or so where it was. Okay Woertz 55. Now fifties today it's back down to 55 up to 58 yup you know kind of this give and take here. Is it a seesaw but it kept cool AE inched ever higher. And it doesn't seem to be any indication. That it's gonna come down any time soon they know if I talked to Jim Toledo this morning said Boyd there I really like fifty dollar a barrel oil at a time. Based on what I'm seeing for inventory levels and consumption. Fifty dollars I'd I'd say were more likely to see eighty and fifty. I don't know how long you'd see 84. Okay simply because I think that the US production just continues to ramp operate now how much are we now ten point five million barrels day at this point last year we were nine point two. That's one point three million barrels of come on line in the last year so that there's some good news with higher prices and because CEE do like to produce your own energy great debt from a security standpoint observed. And ended economic standpoint I think about the people that are working in those oil fields that's good news. It is I think the one thing that you have to watch on all this is part of the reason for the rise in energy prices is because of the weakening dollar. And there's not really any sign that that's ending any time soon so that's on your counter balance there you look out there you say gee you seventy dollar oil could be sticking around right and the the effect at the pump has been significant a month ago. You had gas prices nationally averaging two dollars and 55 cents a gallon now it's thirty days ago. A week ago it was up to 67 and today it's a 273. Things we've seen 18% in eighteen cent increase about a 7% bump in a span of a month. So I conceded text messages coming in now does that mean. That all these increases are fully baked into the price of gas and that's what people really care about were out of the home heating oil season and I got a delivery. I'm probably not gonna buy any more home heating oil to what November December you hope yeah I had to go really this brings go and you never know so let lets see you you're you're out of the woods. And you're not buying any oil for the next six months will broadcast. The indicate how bad does this debt. They are right and and if you're not fully priced in right now at 69 dollars. Is Tucker look and three bucks a gallon. No but probably 29295. Dollars drive around us a tree yesterday I saw 295. You do it him beyond their guard down a jump the gun there for this weekend now. Now keep in mind out of the New England states the state that typically feels the burden most his Connecticut highest taxes Connecticut to get the highest prices for entered for gas Ian on New England right now it's all structured right now it's at 283 the lowest is New Hampshire to 64. Massive rate in the middle to 69. In Maine and Vermont to both threatened to 72. Outs in 269. To Tucker's point when I'm driving now maybe I'm just like if you go down to Bridgewater Massachusetts. It's pretty cheap rate. It seems like there's pockets ever notice that I sort of Germany won yesterday where orient. I know I was in Dedham. While oil Dedham dead in his pocket. Denham is a pocket we can get some GPS and go to Bridgewater but it talker he drove stream of water. You try to get it for 259 to sixty in yeah I mean it was on my I don't know why he. It was on Monday but and hammer fell about that 263. But I was Monday. A it's it's always strange to the area is considered strange deceived the prices are lower in certain areas of this odd you know or else it's cheap. If you go out to stir verge Massachusetts yourself or Massachusetts or keep gasoline on the south part anyway so. Prices are high let's talk about why they're right he talked about currency that's a valid point. Inventory levels we got reports an inventory they were low. Yeah inventories came in a little bit lower than anticipated here. You know if you look at crude oil inventories in the United States. Just shy. Of a billion barrels total. Decent chunk of that is in the strategic petroleum reserve seat back to that out. It tells you hey you've got about 427. Million barrels that are kicking around inventories at the moment if you go back to a year ago McHale was like to give vector paerson a year ago how big was. That commercial inventory about 532. Million barrels you've seen about in nineteen point 7% decline. In inventory that's out there CN last year. I hate to give them credit because I don't like them. But the Russians and saudis have played this game very well. The they colluded it openly the Indy I called collusion you can do is call partnering when everyone caught it. They both came in together. Talk about strange bedfellows too right maybe a Saudi Arabia and Russia. Yet there is those two countries that typically having gotten along very forever and all of a sudden they're in bed together. But now they they did a nice job in terms of cutting production. And increasing the price of oil I thought they you know I said here right on the show that. Saudi Arabia would do anything to get the price of oil up because they wanna go public. They wanna take Saudi aramco public at seventy bucks a barrel they're actually 75 because there's only Europe yup they're pretty close to their price target. Given my one of the good things that comes out of higher oil prices. Is that with the US continuing to build up the amount of production that we have as well as the fact that we're now exporting a significant amount of that production. It does go a long way towards helping to balance things from a trade perspective. Because as you actually are more oil at a higher prices effectively. Reduces some of that trade imbalance there are so to a certain extent that almost is a US case for having higher oil prices in the 70s75 dollar a barrel were. Well this is also largely beneficial to Canada thing about western Canada told him they struggled that'll Fort McMurray area and all that enough ever in trouble and Mexico. Mexico produces fair bit of oil that is really think about you know the the America Venezuela gets element where. So promptly he take it out of the ground there's so many financial sanctions on the country that they they they can't figure out what to do with it at any rate. Oil prices on the rise and got to tell you as we sit here today now it's only April 19 we don't know the answer but there's no relief in sight there's nothing that I look at chalk and say. Yeah but. Prices come down part of the reason that the prices are up is the kind of recent Armstrong. Literally you'd look at consumption great work we're now consuming. At may couples in March were consuming is if it was me and it normally Mays the beginning of your big driving season. Yeah me and a pony up some figures right now on oil consumption. And so to do here we go so if you take a look at where. These numbers have moved there are a little bit higher than you typically see. During this time a year it's not think it's massive necessarily but it is something you know that that does. Play some what of parole hearing that what do you do have a good economy and so now you are picking a little bit up Bob on that from that perspective and also give my people are buying more suvs. Yup you know they're if they're not buying the Honda civics anymore they're buying. These suvs or they get they get better gas mileage than east is in a bind the Hummer we begets eight miles a gallon. But they're not bind the civic gets 35 miles a gallon either. Nobody you know of the where the problem comes in. He is. These higher gas prices are like a tax increase when you look at it they are and just you know you look at all lastly you go to the girl for store UC harbor for prices. A you know you go to fill up your tractor to cut the lawn on the weekend it's gonna cost you a little bit more at least just. Everything you do is. Got gas involved and somehow Grady. You'll see the boating season. Right you know this you're heading into the boating season where people are bringing out they're both steam drive by any of the marinas are paying the bottoms and you get in the oil change get ready to go. Consumption what does that do to consumption so we'll see. It it it definitely acts as a potential drag on the economy and thank Ann in you do have to look at this in in conjunction with the fact you're gonna have wage pressures and so forced. You you may see some of the some of the earnings growth that we're seeing in the first quarter Dell may slow in the third and fourth quarter because its consumer slows it well I don't know if it's from that perspective but simply you get up higher in cost both in terms of wages and energy and those are you can just about any business out yes that's. Fifty to 70% of your expenses wages and energy in it both of those are going up hey it's going to create some drag. What does it do to Amazon that's a good questions matter of fact up in the next segment were beat talking about Amazon. Our question our poll question today he'd be so kind as to participate. If you've never texted just before you have to put my name Barry in the beginning of the tax keep in mind what some of that is the oh some of that can be due to differences in how quickly they're going through whatever shipments they've received previously all I don't know. Because I've seen no way you know take is if if you look at how we can be set you Munson the may have contracts in place where they've Marty ordered at certain prices via win when you see the price at the pump when it's not based on the gas that they have in the ground right it's based on the order of they have coming in hull. Is that they have to cover that next announced that you know so it if you look at it. It's something where if someone you know. Isn't necessarily going through their previous shipment that quickly yeah they may say look I need to order right now why would I pay this price when I can potentially not have to if I waited out. But why would so few why would you sell for 257 though when your neighbor sells for 270s. It's people in the door is the place that make their money it's not on the it's a neat when you walk into the team gets its animals that you buy in by and a Coke for dollar the cost and 25 cents after he's while companies that all of my stuff that's the can be business spot right now and it works pretty gentlemen for you know days sell coffee cost they sell gas at cost and then they clean up on everything else they do pretty well. He walked into a Cumberland farms and hassle and in our town it currently has been busy all the time I wish it was economy's near me I go there all the time the 99 saying coffees. Now it's it it's a good deal Ari again our text number 63566. What are you paying for gasoline. I guess you are companies don't talk hole you don't hear this one has Weymouth you know how many there are by the way. 84. Keep going really wanna go in. One point keep going. Line 75 overnight to close 720 hole while the senator measured by the national weather so they are in eleven different states primarily. Massachusetts. New York Florida Connecticut Maine New Hampshire Rhode Island Vermont so and a couple of others got Windows 7 126 of them I need some verification on 978 insane and that in towns and adored. Pittsburgh where gas is 237. Again. Possible on I 37. I doubt that was a Texan last year. We just gotta today I've seen through seven months now vitally rates he's paying 269 in west Borough and that's about it on the you know that's on the low side I'm telling you guys watch this weekend he driver on and do my own personal Serena to 90s now and am actually going to Connecticut airs units and forty dollars surveying the price of gas how would you wanna bet that gasoline in Connecticut is three box ago irony not that that for regular regular gas three box again are we talking on average are one station I can find it and station for three Elena taken it yet and definitely wanted out there yet Connecticut years Alex Rios six's yeah presumably if you had it all the way down you know Denver or something like that you definitely find it undoubtedly London. I'll be in New London but no all tracked the pricing. Speaking of pricing let's go to taco bit a little bit about Amazon the big news last night. Analysts at big news but the Jeff Bezos and some report announce that they have a hundred million people while global. They're paying him 99 bucks a year for Amazon prime. Good deal to let that that's a lot of membership. It is the hundred million people. It's it's dwarfed by all the other stuff that they brilliant you know it just only to get it represents 110 of 1% of their revenues right OK but you know still to have. A hundred like I I'm trying to think what you get for your hundred bucks you get the music some people use it some people don't I use it. Yet the videos I use the video lost III is the video decent I used the video home more than I used Netflix. Believe an era because they're documentary the war documentaries are there really do blend better history. On Amazon. What STE at the the two day shipping but like if you don't have a prime membership you still get decent UTE. Get what three or four days. Maybe more. And more taxing four or five days someone that range if you don't prime. Noon guessing here here all the benefits that you get from Amazon prob OK okay run etc. you get free two day shipping out no matter what some as it goes now have free same day delivery I've seen that in a few cases. You get prime video obviously. You get prime music which is they're streaming not bad you get access to twitch which is the place you can go watch people play video games period is that very popular these days don't indict that's a waste of money on me. You can also get stay active more people watching that those that watching CNN right. Gloria would not surprise me not ever know that there's millions of people watch other people wanted you watched which then watch CNN. Other things that you get access to if you get that visa card gives you 5% back ams on purchases also that works at whole foods. You also have eligibility for Amazon fresh so that's their grocery. Thing that you have. You of eligibility for prime pantry which is another part of their grocery thing. What else do you have. Prime reading which is you can borrow books on year Kindle and not have to pay for them which is I know about that threesome now Amazon first read you get early access to a new book each month from Amazon didn't audible which is audio books so you get unlimited listening to those. To the original series that are created for that by Amazon that's been. You get a free trial of the Washington Post. You can share your membership with up to two different members of Sherlock people use way more than my son is matching up my son and his girl but boot off of my name is coming off. How to do that James past old. A Tug and called in his column but tedium is just past where you've shown on the Arthur Shia and all you hear from tomorrow. So you get all these different things there but a hundred million people and by the way. The average Amazon prime subscriber yeah I saw that Spencer thirteen hundred dollars in a given year in which is almost double the 700 that the average non man but what you spend. Oh I trying to. Calculate that winds over 900 a month what he wants it was a possible about a lot of food. A lot of food business it is and I say my life shops that a lot probably so and and I will Election Day tea have granddaughters. May have mentioned that and today he wants. Shop for the you know I'm I'm probably around that twelve to 15100 dollars a year range you know about a hundred hey I can do that a good month. Do you have up and Amazon prime membership that's our poll question today 77. Point 7% if you. Have won 22% do not have talked or you've got 122%. Is lying what the 42% is moot should off of their friends problem earth. Yeah there or if your case your in your parents using your prime membership to know we have we have to. Time now for my whole street watch a look at the market's performance so far today but I don't Berrian jug right here on the financial exchange radio network. The Dow is up two points. Big story though chuck continues to be oil 6903. Per barrel. Yet oil now up at the highest level we've seen since October of fourteen it's been about three and a half years since we've seen prices in this range. And once you start getting this ballpark it does potentially create some drag both for. Companies as well last for consumers due to the additional chunk it takes out of their budgets each month. Existing C continued you know volatility in gas prices just look regionally here. And field New Hampshire to 62. A gallant Ipswich 271 Har which pour down on the tape to 69 again on. 248 in Manchester, New Hampshire. And then I think they saw when it hold listen to this one. 397. On Nantucket. That's got to be for premium we've been on Nantucket. And that's. Or premium as rate news I don't know. The 390 seven's I mean I know then Nantucket and it's expensive Louisiana idea shipman over there and everything but. That sounds high as mineralized 237 at BJ's in Portsmouth that's a membership deal right here you're a member. 256 and Senna. It's just wild seed variations Aaliyah I just I find that I've always been curious as to why. It was sect G at a difference in in terms of pricing. You know it's we get is if it is different suppliers different timetables as far as buying in things like that that's that's what you see now. Bed, Bath & Beyond. Allegedly in serious trouble if another retailer that it's gonna bite the dust as a result of Amazon. What you saw was that on Tuesday. Standard and Poor's cut there rating to triple B minus which is the lowest level. That is still can considered investment grade for their debt and S&P also warned that it could additionally continue to downgrade. Bed, Bath & Beyond bonds down to junk status moon in the event that the financial situation and improve forth and so. There it's it's a retailer that is faced a ton of questions over the last year in particular the last five years the stock's gone for eighty bucks a share down to seventeen total loss of you know north of 75% of the value of the company. Pretty easy thing to replace. With a Amazon isn't. The internet's one job easiest right you know like I think about like have had to get you know pots and pans and things like that. Oh right indeed money Amazon I knew exactly what I need but used right ten years ago. Bed, Bath & Beyond because it coupon yet it is the place. You my wife was in their all time now know as they were sent at the 20% off coupons every month now she shopping online products and is chuck would say that still means it's 80% on right. Write your story while he is switching to watch their stock at seventeen dollars a share. Seventeen in last year been for. While still profitable company you know you do have to point that out there's there's still making a profit it's not a company like Sears where they're losing money hand over Vista. But it's. Sales numbers are good. We look at the number of retail pretty locations in just in the retail industry in overall. Going to be a record year in terms of retail closures. Why do we. Get so upset about retail stores close I don't they didn't day it doesn't bother me a bit you know it's if you Mozilo the C hope they would cut down on traffic but it doesn't seem if it's just you know we that we don't do that with you know any other type of company now you know as a boat retailers for some reason like the place that we buy something has a special place in our heart because we bought something they don't like his break we all know somebody who worked at one or we worked at one rate it is like you worked at a for story it's the there's there's only. Lot of times your first job is working in re depth I guess I guess that could and unity that has something to do that that Bed, Bath & Beyond me just. Police arrest me just go through the company's. Amazon has put out of this this is kind of funny when you go into bed bath me on in Hillary looks like. What an Amazon warehouse looks like you know like every area stack do whatever there. Does know. Great flowed at the store its if they don't find it it's also not an emergency purchase or like if you need bananas. And those are for right right now. You need bed sheets and HS is already in order and they don't need the warriors a cult that getting new bed sheets now I mean a loss from either that's gross. Thanks for sharing. Amazon teaming up with the best spot this is a very good news story that you know is this an area. That Amazon saying hey we don't really wanna be delivered because you buy your TV from Amazon and they had to lost money. Oh they did they did Austin yeah yeah. I don't if it's heavy. It's subject TVs are subject to shattering in breakage. Maybe they want to get out of that nose to the thing here is not that they're trying to get away from. Get out of selling TV season but rather they want to have their own branded TVs that are sold in best buy to capture the market of people who go in and buy a branded TV to get Smart TV so it's already set which by the way Smart TVs. The whole concept of Smart TV is more marketing tactic inane thing else. Well I realize I have one and I like it's got by it's gotten Netflix on it it's got in is on on it I don't have to have I don't have to put in that. I think in the back you know the media know of this TV the issue that you run into is the technology changes so often that it doesn't make a lot of them can't keep up he bought us martini for five years ago minds about three years a lot of stuff that you can't necessarily use that same. So it's really key U. I think it's a marketing gimmick more than anything else. Kind of always been widely Rowe who shares drop some book is because broke who has been in and broker if you're not familiar with them. They originally made these standalone boxes similar to an apple TV here and Amazon fire sticker something like that what they have done instead. Is they have not tried to get into embedding their systems in TVs and as the Smart TV. Operating system effectively. But that the problem is this directly competes with that. And so I think that's why you saw roku sell off significantly yesterday tobacco is error rate up the the day before their way and edit their back up they lost about 10% yesterday they're up three days of the patent some of those losses back up. But just not a ton. Hope's estate and asset protection planning can be overwhelming. That's what you need to call Todd what's key partner with the law firm Cushing in gold. I folks it's Barry Armstrong in am joined today by estate planning attorney Todd lots ski with your legal exchange quick tip of the day were talking today. About the differences between revoke Kubel and irrevocable trusts. Todd what is the biggest difference between revolt Kubel and irrevocable trusts probably the most commonly asked question ever. Probably. And first all I'm gonna tell you that there's many different kinds of irrevocable trust its not like just one line call in so that's what makes it hard for Germany. Let me at least try to. Bring it back down to what I think are asking me generally. Irrevocable trust their talking about are these Medicaid income only trusts now the ones are we try to protect assets from the nursing home. So if I was to compare that kind of and your vocal trust with a revoke of trust them. There really biggest differences. The irrevocable trust a protector lessons from the arsenal the Reebok abort trust never will so why would somebody user revolt global trusts. Over and durable trucks there are times where people have either enough long term care insurance or plot may well or lots of wealth and and their self insured because they can pay their own way through the nursing home so how much money you have to have it if you like we define rich force I don't ask for 1000005 nines. What estate tax laws as high as they've exemptions have gone as high as they are I'd say you know 34 million dollars or less you're probably still going to be considering an irrevocable trust if you're over age sixty. The estate planning expert at Cushing and Dolan have written a brand new guide that will answer the most common questions that you have. Regarding revolt Kubel and irrevocable trusts. I love it bluntly let's let's be honest here. So the farmer bro mark bush earlier very unlikable. Care even his last name is unlikable ash grow huge rally go to jail. God and in not one jail either the same jails Buddy Cianci. Yeah he is it this is not good suit did jail that he's going to is the which was going to popcorn picture a little correctional institution in New Jersey so it's at Fort Dix it's about eighty miles from New York City what do you. Seventy years. Yeah he's yeah I mean he's he's not coming out any time soon do you think he survives. The mentally or physically if that he's got a big boy I mean he's already a little messed up to begin right. You know so I don't think he comes out of there in a particularly. Good state you know it's Venus forties prison's not fun for anyone but I don't know life I don't know if he really has the the temperament to be able to get through there. He'll either become like the mob boss of the prison right or you. The last six months now there or the final leg laundry bag somewhere something that could be the way it ends. Our big story about the senate moving to repeal the Obama air car loan rules. I didn't fully understand this eight if it sounds like there was some rule that prevented. Car dealerships from making you know discriminatory loans and then the U they're gonna abolish sent. It was a a guidance that was issued back in 2013. And warned auto lenders. That they had to adhere to fair lending laws that prohibit discrimination on the basis of race color religion gender or other classes. And I guess that there was a group by the National Consumer Law Center committed found that pricing car loans in the ninety's and early in early two thousands. Had some significantly very practices among some of these groups and so the rule that was put in place. And was put in place to try to prevent that. It was bad enough previously I guess that ally financial. Ended up having to pay 98 million dollars to settle a case Bakken 2015. So we did does appear that there worsened things going on because you don't settle a case like that for ninety million dollars you know unless there was something you know actually going on there. Do you guys know anybody that doesn't have an Amazon prime. Maybe your mom have what are my grandfather. No she does not I don't think I might be wrong on that I don't my mother in law doesn't. She'd they say your mother and father like do we don't have no dare use me if you hit it in the Philadelphia now to answer right now. He got to get that. In his on prime credit card. Now that you haven't done that and Anna and are using Amazon enough to get the should justify credit card for a I mean just caution. Still I don't wanna open a new credit curt get 5% off. Still by 5% on. You know how that card works by the way the system might imagine your punch it and and uses preloaded in the are tired out like that I'm not. Really you're not. You're businesses are using it out they would business owners don't. Is there's a lot of a lot of Amazon prime accounts are used by business and oh yeah we use it as a company deaf so the way it works is use that card. And you get a deduction for all the stuff you're buying yup right. And then the 5%. That you get is a discount isn't actually discount on the purchase they give you points that you're putting your count so what you can do. Just thinking future purchases have meant so you can use that. 5% that you're getting back in rebate dollar for your non deductible. Purchases that so. You know let's say you're buying. Office supplies you buy office supplies. And that's tax deductible let's say by thousand dollars for the tax deductible office supplies right yeah fifty dollars a Freddie news at fifty dollar of credit. To buy non tax deductible potato chips. Just as an example so what you're saying is you're gonna for the free chips just I've just as an example duke edu. Because I'm I'm somewhat surprised only 7% of our listeners have Amazon prime. I would I don't know it higher yet well you figure they have a hundred million globally. We wish I knew how many they had. Master and I'd I would imagine some more around seventy rights and that means and how many households 2005850000100. So that's only half the households have Amazon prime. Right. A little surprising actually 126 million so bouts yeah I'm I'm guessing probably 6566%. I guess it goes down and prices yet old to somebody on their excellence that he is their only paying like six bucks a month but they have senior discount. Evidently tell your mom and dad. Seniors. You know are 65. Oh interesting they do you know how much as. Among them welcome trying to there's a student discount also for yeah for 65 and older yeah I think it's I think whatever tech either 99 deficit would have by now yeah I'm looks like it's awesome on TSE's save. A couple bucks a month and director be 65 or viewed as a might a close. Mis would be age restriction on that reduce them to to to them looking for which he gets paid more Tucker they said hey. We're gonna raise the cost them because they've raised it while if they went from 99 dollars 219 dollars and stay in Belmont. Europe then you're just sane normal under item nine a man. Hundred and I Somaliland pay ten dollars but when you current but I Utah. With the amount of shipping SA via amend the beauty you could take it up to 200 on stolen I'm into amen to what you get above 200 gonna start you know wondering. And even like you figure so what would what would normal two day shipping be like 56 bucks each so. You figure if you do for months that's 25 bucks a month. So it's 300 bucks a year and I'm still breaking how important is the two day shipping. Critical audience critical. The focus because they have to ships I'd have you would wind whips when you get your thoughts in your chocolate when I know that I'm gonna be hungry on a Saturday. I have to hit it alerted deliver a screen right imagine if they delivered ice. There may indeed be a key charge you know it's funny ever Oilers has no idea it analyzes no ice cream dual delivery company that was called ice cream truck they don't exist anymore now and they're awesome you know they are. Everything's going the wrong way today we have three big stories to open up today's show where talk about the market that's not terrible Dow is down a little bit. Russert talk about the price of oil and gasoline. And then most importantly after the Southwest Airlines accident that occurred earlier this week where a woman was killed. We're gonna tell you teach you how to just check the safety of the individual plane you're gonna be flying on later this week later this pie everybody's buried chart with you here. It's a Thursday morning chilly Thursday or is it still it is that allegedly spring. Is that is that the clay supposedly for two months for a month now. I'm not I'm so much we. We never really have spring in New England I feel them rewrite it it always kind of goes from 35 to 65 via the others who knew which is next week by the was ya next week so it's it's comic supposedly. Dow was down 49 points I think the story of the day though is the price of oil I don't know your handle is an oil truck I've got it 6920. I'm at sixty. 98 sooner red symbol in in that neighborhood gas prices going up. Haven't a big impact on consumer certainly and have a big impact on businesses imagine what this does to the price of lift the number yeah I guess. Prices up but at this point. About eighteen cents in the last month 32 cents in the last year and on a national average of what that means that say you have an average sized gas tank 1516 gallons somewhere in that ballpark it's gonna cost somewhere in the ballpark an extra five bucks to fill up. You fill up three times a month OK now I get fifteen bucks a month you're in an up out of about a 180 bucks a year. How sensitive our list prices and Cooper prices to gasoline and they'll move that reflect that they don't know they're gonna have a tough time drivers aren't busy you think about like for if your driver for list. You're probably buying gas everyday. If you're if you're driving a lot via the your full time yeah you're driving you say your drive and full time you're doing fifty hours a week for laughter Ruger. A year Europe Europe you're home. And your buying gas every day don't you save yourself cheese it's you know it's costing me an extra 510 bucks a day. Well if the if you're not getting more tips and if you're not getting an increased fee for mover are you saying hey it's time to find another line of work on. And we've already run the numbers on it and when you factor in things like the insurance and appreciation and all that. You're not making much money doing that anyway CBO if you're if you're doing a full time so it's. I think it potentially could tip the scales for some people to head out of you know of the the business for a little while. The the only way I talked to targeted today says the only way you can make a decent living is if you hit that bonus on a weekly basis. And he done yeah if you eat you get that forty rides that you've taken or something like that yeah it's a lot of arise I think it's a hundred a week. But if you do that if you hit the bonus right in yet that 500 dollars then you're doing okay if you missed that bonus and he said he hits it all the time. He knows how to do goat he said what it in ball uses. Driving around a lot of drunk people late night. That's I hit the bonus pretty much yet as you drive and a mile or two in the new packing up and the drunken taken them home at that time between you know 1 AM and 3 AM he said Thursday used to work Thursday Friday Saturday night so. In order to hit those bonuses and used to be willing to work until 4 AM I'll do it well that's a neat but that's that's his that's got to do it yeah that is his job that's how he makes a living that's how he provides for yeah. That it that's what he's done. It was our question today is what are you paying for gasoline and are excellent with the ought to know the disparity throughout New England is quite remarkable. Speculation is that Connecticut will have the highest gas prices. In the region. And we are asking you to text us what you are paying for gasoline we'd like to know what town you're in. Our text number is 63566. If you have never texted the show before. Yet the tight my first name and it's Barry BA RY. And then tell us hey I live in New Haven, Connecticut and on pay and X dollars per gallon. You think gritty it's and three are pricing in Connecticut yes I think what the highest price in the region is clearly Nantucket. Right highest price down there was like that we we RD gotta quit from the other 350. In what you've got large parts the country their already north of three dollars a gallon may California Pennsylvania is it to 95 Seattle Tynes is three dollar gas there New York's 280 foresee out of there Utah Nevada Idaho Washington Oregon and California all over three dollars. Statewide there Alaska and Hawaii are as well and obviously. I texted a I shot this story Tucker last night shabby. Is introducing a new technology. That allows you to pay for your gas from inside your car if you thought this is genius I love us why do you rate right way excited pool I mean the biggest thing for me it's about security of your credit card I mean how many times do you hear. The your your credit card during compromised at the gas pump. Tonight at oak you know here at this is. He's one of the biggest places for credit card fraud now. They don't say they put a scammer asked Gary now they've what is Cameron and and also because without a what is skipped the cavs who don't even notice it when your know that some of the new ones literally go inside the reader and so it's like paper thing you can you can even tell that there there. But one of the reasons why that's possible because after the target data breached 34 years ago we had the regulation that was passed Norton moved to these chip cards right I remember that. Except that gas pumps were exempted from those for him to help and here's why why did the exit because they said it would be too costly to them to upgrade quickly soon now instead. It's our problem. What any rate should be coming out rolling out technology there already test marketing it's only shell gas stations. But it's supposedly by the end the year going to be across the platform yet night I'd like to see it. Across the board. The the thing I wonder is you driving you have to beast he's your car has to be right next to it. And they have to do a few things in your car. In order to. Pay for me how fast is going to be. He's eating like of the going to be any slower lately those systems that gas stations aren't the quickest anyways well I think it's done through an app on your phone which then hooks up to your car so it's going to be the same length of time with any other apps you have to have your phone in with. Hours Sampson area you don't have to have your wallet and that's the big idea for us. We are things of the weather's crappy outside you know to be standing outside the quarters we stopped pumping gas line nobody totally be stand out of being able read my car series LA I don't figures give me any time savings at all. I don't either I think the securities the biggest uniqueness I think I think time is going to be in that it supports I think it's gonna be good for your kids. Right if you have a teenager rate is driving the car sixteen years old go to school and he says it'll pick up some gaffes on the way home. Yeah I used that to give my kids my credit card. Do and they come home with a read those analysts don't wowed me with and then making it an extra stop you know. So we've all been there aren't that that that's the I think one of the advantages of that as well is yeah he did. Is so your car effectively is equipped to buy gasoline regardless of who is in that vehicle. That's what I like shabby shabby you know lead people not General Motors that column government motors and whatnot but Mary Barra. I I don't know if you deserves the credit for the astronaut but she is the CEO and give the credit. She is somebody really good job and really hence she is just got a really good job he's got products of people want to buy and and this. I I think. This was going to be fairly popular. So chuck the other day we talked about southwest air and he had the first fatality. By an American airline. In more than nine years. More than nine years at that every night that's amazingly. Yeah anything about how many flights are at that very being and Wayne is literally the safest place you can be in the world how to we checked the safety of our aircraft or let's say. I'm flying to Phoenix at Thanksgiving. I did notice you can actually check and see how old is your plane. What kind of safety record in pads that's critical yet it's. It's a little bit of a process what he'd have to do is you have to figure out. Which specific plane is going to be on your route first of all when I say what specific plan I don't mean 737 verse A 320 or something and yet I get in and number you have to get it's the registration number which it's a six digit number that's it you know and 22641. Yet they all start with them know that they'll start then does that come in your reservation you know. No it doesn't it does not see pro can't find out who dared to before you well you can kind of backed into it has keep in mind a lot of airlines they fly the same plane in the same route just kind of bouncing back and forth between two cities all okay yeah. And so there are different apps that are out there. That you can find that way actually give you this I've got a couple home to some kind of an aviation nerds so you know there's one that's flight aware it's another when it's flight radar 24. And you can actually pull the and number from there and then put that into. The NTSB database and see if your planes have been an accident you can figure out you know things like that now. Unaffiliated I folks it's very Armstrong in am joined today by estate planning attorney Todd lots ski with your legal exchange quick tip of the day were talking today. About the differences between revoke global and irrevocable trusts. Todd what is the biggest difference between revolt global and irrevocable trusts probably the most commonly asked question. Probably is that. And first all I'm gonna tell you that there's many different kinds of irrevocable trust its not just one time call and so that's what makes it hard for her let me let me at least try to. Bring it back down to what I think are asking me generally. Irrevocable trust their talking about are these Medicaid income only trusts now the ones are we try to protect assets from the nursing home. So if I was to compare that kind of and your vocal trust with a revoke of trust and the really biggest differences. The irrevocable trust what protector ass as an arsenal. The Reebok aboard trust never will so why would somebody use or revoke global trust. Over and durable trucks there are times where people have either enough long term care insurance or what did well or lots of wealth and and their self insured because they can pay their own way through the nursing home so how much money you have to have if you like we define rich force I don't ask for 10000059. With the estate tax laws as high as they've the exemptions have gone as high as they are saying you know 34 million dollars or less you can probably still going to be considering in your vocal trust if you're over 860. The vast majority. Of Americans I think it's the number might be 76%. Take Social Security before their full retirement age and very few Americans wait until age seventy. In order to collect there for retirement benefits that's the maximum that's the age you wait until if you if you think you know that 200. Actually have some fascinating numbers I got a pull these up from the senate for retirement research at Boston College oh good they're very accurate and so actually have the age at which people start their benefits. Broken annals by men and women and let's start first with men 42% of men collected age 6242. 7% collected 8637%. At 64 yeah. 34%. At 6566. And can 7% at 67 to 69. And 2% at age seventy only 2%. Women have 48%. The collective age 62 even more than me and 8% at both 63 and 64. 27% at 6566. And 6% at 66 or 6769. And 4% at age seventy. Any speculation as to why the numbers are so different. I think men and women I think a lot of it is we're still. Coming from a time were a lot of women weren't necessarily in the workforce for their entire careers. And suppan is either wasn't the only normal back in the 40s50s or sixties. Or simply because they ended up raising kids interest in had kind of partial careers just due to raising kids and so forth. I think that's probably part of it. I'm assuming that on both of these sides I would imagine that divorce plays some role in these numbers on how well Bradley got probably factors in. But I why you think that is why he thinks so many people. Collect or have heard a lot of reasons and they frankly many of them don't make any sense to me. I think the the number one reasons peopled. Don't do the math. You know they they they don't do the math that even just waiting to full retirement age 6566. I've heard financial advisors though say in counseled. Clients and while the only one collected at 62 and I've always looked at that it licenses it somewhat skeptically because. You know they're saying that. And perhaps they're saying is so they don't take money and they're powerful. But. It could be because I look at the numbers let's say that someone had you know an average benefit thirteen hundred dollars which is right around the average number that is well. If you take that at age 62. You'll get about a thousand bucks or so. I would be additional 300 bucks to get by waiting and I say what that's among the groceries you know I guess that's real money that you can spend actually if you wait. And do you think these early collectors. Chuck are influenced more by health. Were funny to me because I get sixty to fight turned 62 and I'm not that far away yeah but my health was terrible I'd take that I would take it. But I suspect. Is that may I I don't know and financial pressures of the biggest one you do it I do I mean like we see the numbers where the average American at age sixty only has about a 1101000 dollars saved. And we know that's not enough for them to continue to live the way they have previously. And so I think a lot of men and women simply say look I can use the money at 62 then even if it's not the best thing for. What do you make though of the argument where people sit well. I don't wanna take money out of my diaries on an equipment Social Security early. All in those initial security benefit is guaranteed to go up by 8% a year there is no investment out there that's guaranteed to go up by 8% answer that's very good point during the point. And say you know we're not telling what to do your Social Security through just telling the numbers are. New movie coming out this weekend talker avengers infinity Ward's going to be a big yawn. I cannot stand all these comic book movies out this well beyond my list of option go to sleep good at one point I'm going to take a week in just watch every comic book movie just so I can I get out of my system. Is I don't seal on there and and I probably won't see this just is like if you're not watching Albany get left out is going to be able populist John impunity Florida. Make 500 million dollars on stupid like that it's going to be massive is this a Disney movie turn. It certainly is and I mean again Disney's got the two biggest franchises in the world now Star Wars and marvel then it's it's a ticket to print money there. They're gonna do this has a chance due to billion dollars line that's bigger than star got a chance for it to come out this weekend. The following one Lanka. No early reviews here. No it does come out in China until May these things do they still in China. Yet the big ones that are coming out this weekend in the US we get super troopers to owe it to it would bother well beyond my shortlist for Monday not looking great on rotten tomatoes 41% that's okay EPA's super troopers you have to have a certain mentality I know most film producer June 1 one but yet our last it'd be terrible. Actor Mel the first from got a 35 yeah now look at there we go southern star player cult falling you know it is eight you have to understand and appreciate Vermont in order to you could also go watch I feel pretty. No the image in Asia where what that's about Amy Schumer there's also a movie called traffic with a K. Which I don't know what does go wrong at that as in the nineties got Omar Epps and and I'm big Omar Epps I saw the previews. Sure ghost stories which is 85% fresh right now than. And then the the last one that is coming out this week appears to be. Kodachrome. Which I have no idea what it is about. And a shortcut to Jason Sudeikis in a million him. You know why I'm I'm a little worried about my movie pass deal yet told I've been our site is about movie pass yeah. And there ought I didn't notice. But would I thought movie pass when I bought the movie pass card. Which I Limbaugh like three weeks ago day you have to discount rate at the discounted rate it almost sounds like a Ponzi scheme how so. Will you pay for rent I paid a year and a day yeah to get my movie pass card. That movie passes paying almost full price painful blow for the tickets so how does that work I mean I'm goal and they'd they're gonna lose their short on like me because I go every week. I I don't know I think. Like their own auditors are saying I says the beginning it didn't make sense. Like you know where I thought it made sense I thought movie pass had to deal with the movie theaters when he said look. Let our people coming in for two bucks right but it got popcorn and they're gonna buy sodas they're gonna bite chocolate. And and they're gonna spend a lot of other money Selig money on the concessions rate is you you get people into the theaters that's not how the program works at all you pay for your movie pass card. It's like to debit card so. If for me the average movie Agassi's thirteen dollars. Rates and I paid seventy dollars for Mike are they lost money in one month on the line I've been used it up yet but I will after five movies there they're. Lose and they're sure aria. So we used donor for weeks the worst case scenario for them so. I don't I feel bad that I told people Google and yet this is a gimmicky what's gonna happen. In my opinion is they're Google out of business and on and be stuck. Right now I will paid for a year we have it you would have gotten your money you should go see movies every night is a face it's covering that in just make them go bankrupt pastor. But you still come on I had. If there's a lot of strange world give a lot of people that signed up into brilliant couple million people sign up for this I and I. They're all internal audit demonstrates that EU are going to fail this is not going to work out well target and it's not good. That would. I'd love sawed if you were if you listen to me. A battle movie pass I hope you're listening to me about this a warning you you may not make it through the year. What what what finishes first movie passers ears a weekly goes out of business first now. Help wanted ads point to Boston and Washington DC. As the top sites for Amazon's HQ to even talk about some awkward and down to a though I think would what's the date I'm hearing two months June. June I'm hearing that June is when will hear so they'll announce an engine in and you were Atlanta originally stolen. Originally used Brawley California arts health ports north or I don't Charlotte originally are your anyway Charlotte. Yeah and you changed it in Atlanta I don't think Atlantis I'm not gonna change but I don't think Atlanta's taken. They're saying it has to be I think it's DC where the labor pool lose in the what universe while wit what's a better University City. Boston or DC Boston I think Boston but if you include Philadelphia. Right to do a lot of universities and Phil. If you include filly in the DC because it's an hour away right it's he didn't and you could make the the argument that. Yeah I mean you go through the list of colleges that are in late physically in DC's not even outsize not factory and a it will you got to get some good tunes mean you got George Washington he got Georgetown like you've got a double so good schools there's not gonna compared knowing numbing bought Boston stopped topic had you said they got tops Harvard BUBC. Northeast earned and we have. Do include the region that you would you include like in New Haven could get Yale yet brown mean that's the that's all partly so I can go to brown. Would be pre disposed toward moving the ball that's the case the Nielsen got a public University of Virginia got you know no I I agree like you have to to a regional I think yeah if you do that I mean again like. As close as it there's Boston I think Boston mean again bosses like the most densely populated college town in in the country preacher. It's. I think you probably your boss the edge there that. Two biggest knocks you're going to have against Boston won as the transportation issue now which is miserable not to DC's that much better I mean I think DC's worst like DC the metro catches on fire once a week nobody in LA here like literally driver and DC they say it's the worst cities did DCU like that the mattress not good. They have and outside the city. Boston you don't have water that Northern Virginia area there's a ton of space to Worcester. That's different from north of Virginia. It's a lot further all this further yeah yet further. So. It in again I think that Bezos wants to be close to the lobbying action to a certain extent. I think that plays and as well it sure that's working in his favor. These days to pinch from productive as those are hard time if you chose Washington please give our time regardless of just do what you're gonna do. You know I guess I don't think he's gonna give him an easy time picks Boston. Give do not disturb. That he ever used that on your hotel room in hang little card out we've been no word and it disturbed definitely a nap you'd be able to do that on your car when we come back. According to the FDIC chuck. The national average savings account interest rate has risen just one basis point. Since September of 2015 from point 06%. To two point 07%. You would think this would have consumers up in arms nobody cares people don't shop many more they don't I I do but most people don't. So from the old Easter you that you step people. That would drive all over Boston. In all over New England to get half a percent wore a CD. You know where the good rates are these days on line all the online banks you or are they safe. I've used Capital One for about nine years that this. I've never had any problems with the I don't use them for my actual checking or anything like that it is pleased keep long term savings or used to have one whose ING direct. Capital One bought the habit if first they were bought by I keep these that was always kind of bothersome. You'd open up an account and it would be Seoul bought and sold. Yeah and it I didn't like that. Now there with Capital One it's been stable for about five years as this point yeah and they're paying right now on their money markets that are north of one point 6% in on their savings in north the one. Which again I guess not a ton but it's better than that you know the national averages on savings account. Point 09%. It I just think how long can banks get away with flu if you know when shops then why why raise Daryn you know like. Is that part of the reason bank stocks have risen so much to me yes financial stocks of just in that net interest margin that knew him just keeps widening knew who last year where bank stocks are way I'll tell you what though within the next month to two I think you may see. Five years CDs north 3% for the first time in the decade why so. You're you're already seeing creeping up their some now that are around two point 82 point nine and that's what attracted to hit a three. That's gonna attract a cat you start to see in there I've seen three years CDs north of two and a half course the problem is so you get and 3% and inflation ran five right. She's to lose in Moscow not still not great and I think they pirate attacks that interest dim its its is it still isn't back to where I think it's really attractive I think the number that most people need to get to useful. Four per day up if you go to war but a good luck I don't know when that's common. That's a long way yet to more hikes this year right Bay's lead to more baked in three navy I think there's three come in and they do I think inflation taught.
