Kuhner's Corner: Time for a special counsel to investigate Hillary

The original FBI investigation was a sham, where is Sessions?

Hillary Clinton needs to face real justice. The FBI investigation into her private email server was rigged—a predetermined sham. Attorney General Jeff Sessions needs to appoint an independent counsel to thoroughly and properly investigate Hillary’s numerous crimes.

The question is: Will he?

According to Rep. Matt Gaetz, Florida Republican and member of the House Judiciary Committee, Sessions likely won’t. The reason: He lacks the courage to confront the permanent FBI bureaucracy.

In an explosive interview on my radio show, Gaetz said Sessions suffers from “Stockholm Syndrome” when it comes to exposing the massive corruption of Hillary, as well as former FBI Director James Comey—the dirtiest cop in America. Gaetz recounted his meeting with Sessions at the Justice Department. When Gaetz asked the attorney general about whether he was thinking about appointing a special prosecutor in the wake of the revelations of pro-Hillary (and anti-Trump) bias at the FBI, the Florida Republican said Sessions simply kept looking to DOJ aides for guidance and instruction.

To Gaetz, Sessions was acting more like an “employee” of the Justice Department than its leader. Gaetz is right. If Sessions is not up for the job, then he needs to resign. Immediately.

For the evidence is overwhelming that the FBI investigation into Hillary was not only botched, but orchestrated to ensure her acquittal. In fact, Gaetz’s confrontation with FBI Director Christopher Wray during his testimony on Thursday in front of the House Judiciary Committee pretty much revealed it. Gaetz asked Wray if Hillary was treated as a “special person.” Wray’s stunning answer was: yes, but only “informally.” In other words, the head of the FBI admitted that Hillary was given special, preferential treatment. Moreover, Wray also revealed that Hillary was exonerated by Comey before she was even interviewed or that of other key players involved in setting up her private email server. In short, the fix was in.

This comes on top of the stunning revelations that top FBI investigators, such as Peter Strzok, were rabid pro-Hillary partisans who saw themselves as part of the anti-Trump resistance. For example, Strzok sent numerous text messages to his mistress and fellow FBI agent, Lisa Page, boasting of his support for Hillary and hatred of Trump. It was Strzok who personally interviewed two of Hillary’s chief aides, Cheryl Mills and Huma Abedin. Both of them claimed they didn’t know about Hillary’s server until after she left the State Department. Mills went even further. She told the FBI she didn’t know what a server was. They lied—repeatedly.

In countless emails, Adedin and Mills discussed or were involved in discussing Hillary’s server.

“hrc [Hillary Clinton] email coming back—is server okay?” Mills asked in a Feb. 27, 2010 email to Abedin. Apparently, Mills knew what a server was then.

In an email exchange on Aug. 30, 2011, Mills and Abedin are involved in a discussion on what to do because Hillary’s “email server is down.”

In another email exchange on Jan. 9, 2011, Abedin and Mills are involved in another discussion about Hillary’s server, worrying it wasn’t working properly because “someone was trying to hack us.”

I could go on, but why bother? The record is clear: Abedin, Mills and Hillary lied repeatedly to the FBI. Strzok turned a deliberate blind eye; he was protecting fellow Democrats. Mike Flynn, however, had to plead guilty to making false statements to the FBI. The hypocrisy and double-standard is obscene.

Furthermore, Strzok is the man, who changed the term “grossly negligent” to “extremely careless” in Comey’s infamous July 2016 speech exonerating Hillary for mishandling classified information. Why? Because gross negligence is a legal term that would have opened Hillary up to criminal prosecution. Instead of a fair, impartial investigation FBI leadership decided to coddle and shield Hillary at all costs—including destroying the bureau’s reputation.

The seminal reality is the FBI under Comey was corrupted and compromised. It was turned into a political arm of the Obama administration and the Hillary campaign. Its independence was not only violated, but crippled. J. Edgar Hoover must be spinning in his grave.

The only way to restore the FBI’s integrity and public standing is for a new—and this time genuinely real—investigation into Hillary’s lawless, criminal behavior. It’s time for a special prosecutor; one who is not afraid to look into all of Hillary’s crimes—her private email server, Uranium One, the Clinton Foundation, bribery, influence peddling, embezzlement, perjury, obstruction of justice, Benghazi and her role in procuring the infamous Trump dossier (which Comey and Robert Mueller have used as the basis for their investigation into alleged Trump-Russia “collusion”).

Hillary is not above the law. And neither is the FBI. Yet, Sessions refuses to act. What is he afraid of?
